Career
Devlin Hodges began his professional career at an early age. Hodges started at quarterback at Samford for four years. He was voted the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Year three times, and he won the 2018 Walter Payton Award after his senior season when he set the NCAA FCS career passing yardage record of 14,584 yards.
Former Alcorn State quarterback Steve McNair established the previous record in 1994, but Hodges smashed it. Following Mason Rudolph’s injury, he made his professional debut with the Steelers on October 6, 2019, in a game against the Baltimore Ravens. In his debut regular-season game, Hodges completed seven of nine passes for 68 yards and carried the ball twice for 20 yards.

On October 13, 2019, Hodges nabbed his first NFL start against the Los Angeles Chargers. He threw for 132 yards and scored once but also faced an interception. Stepping in for Rudolph on November 24 against the Cincinnati Bengals, Hodges led a comeback, completing 11 of 14 passes for 118 yards and a 79-yard touchdown.
Coach Mike Tomlin designated Hodges as the starter for the November 26 game versus the Cleveland Browns. In the 20–13 win, Hodges threw for 212 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. However, Hodges faced challenges against the Buffalo Bills on December 15, 2019, resulting in a 10–17 loss.
Despite throwing for 202 yards and a touchdown, he set a career-high with four interceptions. Hodges was benched against the New York Jets, with Rudolph taking over after two interceptions. Reinserted due to Rudolph’s shoulder injury, the Steelers were defeated 10–16. During the game, Hodges passed for 84 yards and two interceptions. In his rookie season, Hodges started eight games, totaling 1,063 yards, five touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

Devlin is currently dating his girlfriend Lainey Wilson. Wilson shared her experience meeting Hodges through mutual friends in Nashville.
