This week's brand new Hearthstone Tavern Brawl is "Battle of the Bans." This fairly unique Brawl asks players to make decks containing only four cards, then ban one away. The games' are fairly fast-paced, with low-mana minions being the best option to secure a card pack. Games will end before players will have 10 mana, so don't bother dumping high-cost cards into your deck and wasting your time with a loss.
Returning for a second week since March, this Tavern Brawl now has Demon Hunter and the Ashes of Outland cards to use. Not much has changed, Murlocs and Druid are still incredibly powerful in this mode.
Each player picks one of the four cards from their opponent's deck to ban; three of those cards are viewable while one is a mystery. The player who with the first turn bans a card first, followed by their opponent. If the card was banned was in your opening hand, it will be replaced with copies of the three remaining cards (Mulligans happen before the bans).
Though "Battle of the Bans" seems like a fairly simple Tavern Brawl, there are a few different strategic options. If you are playing this Brawl against a friend and can agree on what cards to ban, I highly recommend playing Ramp Druid with Yogg-Saron. It basically becomes a random gamble to see who gets blown up by their Old God first.
If you are playing in the regular Brawl against strangers, the Murlocs are truly the way to go. You can use Murlocs to dominate the early game, pretty much promising you win if you can keep your tiny minions on the board. With Grimscale Oracle, Murloc Tidehunter, Murloc Tidecaller and Rockpool Hunter, you'll be pushing 15 damage a turn. If Tidehunter is banned, you'll have a harder time, but you can still win. You might feel dirty after finishing your game, but that's just the price of success.
If Demon Hunter seems like a more fun choice, going Twin Slice, Battlefiend, Altruis the Outcast and Priestess of Fury can be your deck. It might not be as consistent, but you will deal lots of damage.
Another option is Discard Warlock, which requires a Legendary card to get going. The Solarium, Soulfire, Silverware Golem and Clutchmother Zavas. You can switch out a Legendary for Fist of Jaraxxus, but it isn't recommended.
Which deck did you use to secure your win? Tell us in the comments.
